I played for the FSU B team my senior and it was awesome. Everyone is super nice on both the A and B teams, I would say that that ratio is 1:0. Go play at 12 days of ultimate, you'll meet the guys and it's completely relaxed ultimate with people of all skill levels. If you like it enough from there go play with DUF, you won't regret it.

I see you're as optimistic as your username implies, they will definitely naturally develop to a certain degree. But think about it this way: the immersion will exponentially improve your tones based on how much effort you put into improving them. If you worked on your tones at home by yourself, you'll make a pretty decent flat rate of progress. If you work on your tones while in China, you'll see a drastic improvement in your tones. You still have to do work, nothing worthwhile in this life comes free, but just about everything is a hell of a lot cheaper in China.

The first time I studied abroad in Tian Jin was when my tones really started to get decent. However, you can't just go there and hope that immersion will perfect your tones without any effort on your own part. What really improved my tones was the realization that people could easily misunderstand what I was saying if I didn't use the right tones, and I kinda stressed them a lot more than anything else. I recommend really practicing reading pinyin and over emphasizing the tones on your own, and then just kinda talking to people without thinking about it too much. The deliberate practice will improve your tones and the conversation will help you internalize them. Having a big group of native Chinese people to listen to will definitely help you get a hang of the rhythm and flow of the tones though, and you'll grow more comfortable with them, which will certainly be helpful, it's just not enough on its own.

Super glue. As adorable as the picture is it's actually an example of horrible animal cruelty, once hamsters have had their sensitive paws super glued, removing the glue tears their sensitive pads making it impossible for them to walk without excruciating pain for at least a week. They are unable to feed themselves or get water without direct human hand feeding. Of course someone who would do that to the poor defenseless creatures in the first place wouldn't take the time to give them that much care until they recovered, so they certainly starved and or died of thirst after this shot was taken, all for one "cute" photo :\. Nah, just kidding that shit is shopped.
