Exactly. The past fifty years have been about getting more people through college. Unfortunately, that means college is less meaningful, making graduate school (which is even less financially accessible) increasingly necessary.

People may not like your phrasing, but you bring up a good point. Since the 60's, we've made an effort in the US to get everyone a higher education. We give subsidies to schools that give the most degrees, and schools that have very low drop-out/failure rates. This obviously encourages colleges to make it easier to graduate. So our effort to increase the education level of the average citizen by getting more people through college may have just decreased how meaningful a college degree is.

I just made a similar change. I also have a cream strat, and swapped the white pick guard for a tortoise one, but I have a rosewood fretboard. What the fuck were they thinking with white on cream? It makes the cream look dingy and disgusting.
