This paints him in a good light, and you don't see that much. But some of the things he says are pretty batshit crazy. I worry for his sanity, although recent video interviews show he can still put it together long enough to not come off as a raving lunatic for the cameras. His inner monologue that leaks onto the internet is another story.

Aaron used amphetamines. I still contend that Ruth is the all-time leader, if you want to talk about the game being played naturally.

Steroids was an era that brought a lot of shame to the game. That said, even from the most horrific of things can come some good. Nothing is black and white, and sometimes judging whether or not there was a net positive or negative good is just too subjective to be definitive in either direction.

Its official... Scott Podsednik is back in the majors, batting 8th for BOS against BAL by noreaster2011in baseball

One clutch (and awesome) hit doesn't make up for the fact that he's basically average in most offensive categories, and certainly doesn't justify him as an everyday player.

I had no idea what this place was until a post earlier this week that said something like "Just lost my 5 Guys virginity." I was instantly horrified. Glad I clicked the link.

Isn't he still using PEDs to some extent? Last I heard he was pretty heavily addicted.

David Ortiz claims he just saw submarine in Kansas City Royals fountain by Canadavein baseball

I think they do it just because of the image it provides. It makes Ortiz out to be this big, idiot savant type person who despite having the mentality of a child, is still good at baseball.

Jered Weaver on the field has a good poker face. When he’s really upset, he screams profanity. When he’s really happy, he screams profanity. When he’s drinking water from a little Dixie cup, he screams profanity and gets water all over his chin.

Because it happens so often in cinema: if you have a gun to someone who is holding a prisoner, if you shoot them, will they have enough reaction time to kill the hostage? by LaziestManAlivein AskReddit

[–]LaziestManAlive[S] 1 point2 points ago

Well, human reaction time can be anything down to a tenth of a second, that's the lower limit that no information can be processed at any quicker of a rate so I suppose it comes down to how far away from the target you are, and how long before the brain loses the ability to act.

Babe Ruth Knocked Out During Game against Washington Senators, July 5th 1924 [xpost /r/historyporn] by epona92in baseball

Maybe you unconsciously recognized that while self-assuring, karmic pursuit is inherently and utterly devoid of any real metaphysical meaning. Sure, a post here that pulls in a few hundred upvotes is nice, each one a subtle nod of approval from your peers, but will it amount to any more? Does it make life worth living, worth setting the alarm for?

Watching the Yankees lately. by tswavesin yankees

Were we doing this miserable early on in '08, or was that more of a late season deterioration?

Edit; we were doing terrible.

What a bust. The wheels are coming off at every end: offensively and defensively. We're mired with injuries to key players, and the other players who are expected to pick up the slack look like little league hitters out there. I'm looking at you, Teixeira.

6 Reasons The Office Was At Its Best In Season 8 - I don't remember how I came across this, but boy do I disagree with it. by llosxin DunderMifflin

[–]LaziestManAlive 1 point2 points ago

I agree that these are all strong suits of the show, but unfortunately it takes a lot more to keep the ship afloat. Season 8 was bad for a lot of reasons other than Michael's leaving. For one, Darrel and Val. Since season 1 there has been a constant, romantic side plot. After Jim and Pam got together, they needed to fill that void, and they continuously have tried to recapture that same magic by introducing new characters and playing the same "will they get together?!" trope in every season, finally going over the edge with Val. I don't care about her as a character, and quite frankly she's only there to give Darrel more face time, and to fill space.

I will have to disagree with one of the points in the article and claim that guest stars becoming frequent ones is a pitfall. Creating new characters is a lazy way of trying to rekindle interest in a dying show. Might as well just add Poochy the Dog. Worse yet, the veteran characters are becoming more and more caricatures of themselves. We get it, Kevin is stupid; Meredith's a slut; the jokes are becoming redundant. I was really hoping 8 would be the last season. Any more, and the writers will only tarnish the outstanding reputation of the previous seasons.

Exactly. He's the Kramer of The Office.

I still don't understand why they made Andy manager. by deathfromabove1251in DunderMifflin

[–]LaziestManAlive 0 points1 point ago

Andy's evolution as a character is something I liked, not just because he went from dickhead to lovable idiot, but because unlike some characters devolving (Kevin), he became more complex and changed with the show.

[–]LaziestManAlive 1 point2 points ago

To propose season 8 is The Office at its best is insulting. I dare anyone to watch the first episode of season 3, and then the first episode of season 8 and try to make the claim that the show hasn't declined.
