(Spoilers all) Let's discuss Talisa Maegyr. by ghost_movementin asoiaf

I think she makes him look exactly as confused as he should be. Jon's adventures with the wildlings are what make him grow the fuck up. He is, for the first time in his life, free from duty. He finds who he is and, I think, this is the first time he makes choices based on his own personality (or will or needs or desires or whatever you want to call it). It's what makes his return to Night's Watch and all subsequent decisions so much more poignant. He comes back to the Watch on his own accord and not according to some ingrained sense of duty and honor instilled in him by his family/position in life/own self-deprecation. Thus, he is able to become a fucking boss.

To be fair, at least according to my memory, Jon Snow is kind of an awkward, whiny, emotional teenager up to this point in the books. So we'll see how Kit does when Jon becomes a man.

Needed a new belt. Got one really cheap. Also got some sneakers (not made by ae) because why the hell not. I spent too much time in high school wearing their clothes to continue making that mistake.

Best places to work in Bloomington? by kylelykin bloomington

MCPL is a pretty cool place to work as a shelver. They just aren't always hiring and they get a ton of applicants. Worth a shot though!

Obama budget defeated 99-0 in Senate. Coupled with the House's rejection in March, 414-0, that means Mr. Obama's budget has failed to win a single vote in support this year. by ethicalkingin news

The article makes it seem as though the bill was shot down due to the republicans bringing a severely abridged version of it to a vote.

Just bought a couple pair of refined slim chinos, the seersucker popover, and the popover hoodie (because why not try it out). With the promo code it came to $85! Pretty awesome, I say.

TIL that while humans can't taste water, some mammals (like dogs) can. by wwwna321in todayilearned

I don't want to sound arrogant or argumentative (I upvoted you, if that means anything), but I do think your conception of the field is incorrect. The field of psychology is not about talking to patients anymore. Even psychologists that do work with patients, it's only a fraction that fit the mold that we commonly think of. i.e. an older man in glasses taking notes as a patient lies on the couch. Psychology today is for the most part about science and statistics and a huge move towards neuroscience/neurobiology in every field. But, I'm biased anyway. Psychology/Brain science is just a rapidly growing discipline that is, arguably, still very young. It hasn't really been that long since Freud, unfortunately.

The APA and Psychology journals in general are going through a bit of a crisis. They want so bad to be taken seriously, but it seems that the culture is leaning toward accomplishing that goal by only publishing sensationalist articles. Thus, we see the effect now of popular psychology taking precedence. It's sad.

TIL that The Black Keys originally were supposed to record with more musicians, but the others bailed the rehearsal in order to get stoned and play video games. Thus, their first demo was as a duo. by polydorrin todayilearned

Even though I didn't get into the band (or had heard of them) until Brothers, I see where you're coming from completely. I mean, I would not classify El Camino as blues or blues rock. That's not to say I don't like it. I think all their stuff falls in a spectrum and this is just at a yet unfamiliar end of that. Who knows, maybe it was hard to write and perform more heavy, hard-hitting, slow blues when you've reached super stardom. Anyway, just letting you know you aren't alone in your feeling.

What joke regarding your career have you heard too many times? by hotelninjain AskReddit

[–]Korrence 1 point2 points ago

As a psychology major graduating next week, I've learned this is just a way of saying your major is something that is different from their major. "Excuse me you fucking 'business' student but my degree has a much higher employment rate than yours and your suit doesn't fit and that tie is ugly."

The U.S.A.'s 14.3 Trillion Dollar Debt (Who What When Accumulated) by Bemuzedin news

[–]Korrence -3 points-2 points ago

Well this chart seems to be based off something about 9 months old, but that couldn't possibly account for another 2.6 billion. I'd say what you heard likely was referring to the deficit in some (possibly twisted) manner.
