Protecting the paintwork against rubbing damage. by cr0ftin motorcycles

Quote of the day right here! ^

Welp, now I know why I need to make sure my fairing are tight! by JudgeJimmiein motorcycles

[–]Knoxie_89 0 points1 point ago

I don't know about good and tight, I was always told to tighten down the bolts and then take 1/4 turn off it. Something about how there should be a little wiggle room.

But should definitely make sure nothing is real loose!

Before accusingly them, you might just want to ask them about it.

Would you draw in defense of another? Or only for your own defense? by Dr_Davidin CCW

A cop would identify themselves as soon as you said something to them, not "back off, it's none of your business, go away" especially if you were to draw a weapon.

Buying a used bike - Is it legal to ride with the signed over title but no tags? by Humannequinin motorcycles

Buying a used bike - Is it legal to ride with the signed over title but no tags? by Humannequinin motorcycles

[–]Knoxie_89 0 points1 point ago

Hitch might support it but I doubt he car suspension would appreciate an extra 400 pounds bouncing around. Most cars don't suggest more than 200 pounds of tongue weight. Just because the hitch can handle it doesn't mean the car will.

Has anyone taken a road-trip across the country on a sports bike before? Input needed by apalebluedotin motorcycles

[–]Knoxie_89 1 point2 points ago

I would make sure you have someone to ride with too, that's a long trip alone. If you go down you want somewhere there to help. If you aren't that great with mechanics try and find someone who is to do the trip with.

1) Do you know how to work on your bike?
2) Can you bring the tools you need on your ride?

If either answer is no, don't try it. A lot can happen over a long distance like that and things can go wrong, you don't want to be sitting in the middle of no where because you don't know how to fix something simple.

Most hitches for cars are not rated for that kind of weight, he's looking at over 400 pounds with a 650r.

Waving Rant/Question by ErinAnnein motorcycles

[–]Knoxie_89 1 point2 points ago

I always wave to everyone. (Except scooters)

Now that the season has really started there are more "die hard Harley guys" aka: only ever owned/ridden a Harley and think they are better than everyone. (not all Harley riders, but there are those who are like that) and they will not wave unless you're also riding a Harley. As pertaining more to your original comment on earlier in the season, those are the riders who are out there to have fun because they love to ride and enjoy seeing others out riding.

tl;dr- Seems like true die hard riders who appreciate riding more wave more. Weekend, fair weather riders tend to not wave as much.

Taking my first 100+mi. trip. Advice? by ridethepiggyin motorcycles

[–]Knoxie_89 4 points5 points ago

  • Make sure you know how far you can go on a tank of gas, and make sure that you won't be too far from gas when you need it.

  • Have fun, and watch out for crazy cagers.

Q for Rideit - is listening to music while riding a common thing to do? by slash_kin motorcycles

[–]Knoxie_89 1 point2 points ago

I listen on long rides, only in one ear though so that I can still hear things around me. I like listening to music it adds to the calmness, gets rid of some wind noise, and its pretty awesome when your fav song comes on in the twisties!

Plus in NY its illegal to have ear buds in both ears. But not earplugs from what I u derstand which makes no sense (both ears can have earplugs)

How do I get my bike to the DMV to take the riding test for my license? by _zshin motorcycles

[–]Knoxie_89 -1 points0 points ago

Not to be a downer. But if you can't figure out the licensing procedure , maybe you shouldn't be driving any vehicle. Its not hard to google or call your DMV office.

I never tell a passenger to lean into turns. Just always tell them to stay in line with me.
