They can't just walk out, they have contracts. Joel McHales goes for up to 10 seasons, specifically. Actors have to sign those contracts precisely so they can't just use walking away as leverage all the time.

Yeah, absolutely correct. You win fighting games based on strategy, getting inside your opponent's head, and good spacing and execution, as well as being able to formulate a battleplan and constantly readjust it to new situations.

People not too familiar with fighting games don't realize that you actually have to hit your opponent at least once to be able to pull of that high-damage combo. Hitting your opponent in the first place and then staying safe is far more important.

It probably depends on the game, oddly enough. SF4 for instance amplifies the damage and frame advantage during a counter hit, enabling combos that weren't possible before (linking a counterhit punch into a knockdown sweep, for instance). If all you do is mash punches in this game, you're actually going to get killed faster.

Block, then punish. Or actually hit them out of their attack, with a counterhit. Or do a reversal. Pressing buttons without a definite purpose behind it is the fastest way of getting killed in a fighting game, and only seen among nooby players. Anyone who knows the game simply doesn't button mash because it isn't effective.
