People hate Justin Bieber because they think he is a fake singer, but is so successful. So they hate that he has become successful, despite their dislike for his style.

People don't hate rich people for their success. They hate them for their greed and unwillingness to give back to society.

So you really think the CEO of these major corporations are halting all developement because of religion (if they are indeed religious)?

If you honestly believe that any religious person factors religion in business, then you have a very narrow view of how the majority of religious people integrate their faith in their lives.

Its sad to see NPR get almost cornered off by sensationalist programs. They have become the butt-end of almost every Correspondents Dinner joke.

The Man vs. the State by thudiumin funny

[–]DangerousIdeas 0 points1 point ago

Those are a minority. And they probably do donate to charity as well.

The trouble comes with the average person. Usually, they want both government programs (Medicare, Social Security) but lower taxes.

This is where the two parties collide. One of them will boost programs, but increase taxes slightly. The other one claims to lessen govt. programs, and decrease taxes.

Again, if you believe that anyone who voted against raising taxes should pay taxes, then you are spelling out the destruction of the union and the idea of a democracy/republic.

How about the 49% Republicans gather in the Southern states, and create the Confederacy again? And the 51% Democrats gather in the North and make their own state?

The Man vs. the State by thudiumin funny

Nobody, out of their own interest, wants to pay taxes.

The difference is, those who are for government programs (and thus spending, and taxes) realize that the more fortunate members of society should sacrifice a little more to help those who are less fortunate.

If you believe that those 49% who voted against raising taxes should be exempt from taxes, then you might as well declare the US split into the Confederacy and the Union again.

Besides, the party that you are referring to (democrats) believe in tax cuts for the 99%, but tax increases on the 1%. Most of America will not be affected by these so called "corrupt" taxes.

If most of our taxes go to war, then should we just eliminate taxes?

No. If a large portion of taxes go to war, that does not mean the idea of taxation is inherently corrupt.

Short term will be great.

Long term is going to just give the super-rich a hell of a lot more power.

Not just adults. Anyone who launches these tirades against Justin Bieber is wasting his/her time.

Bieber's fan base is, and always will be, pre-teens. Of course his stuff is going to sound stupid to us: it wasn't meant for us.

Disliking his video is one thing. Playing on these jokes, especially in real life, is just an obsession that almost translates into jealousy.

Most Islamic-Arab countries are stuck in the Middle Ages. If more of these Arab countries followed Turkey's revolution (that allowed them to progress but still allow religion), we would have a very different view of Islam right now.

The West is the one who instilled conservative religious groups in these Arab countries in the first place.

If any secular revolution occurs, it would be a rebellious faction within the country.

I only criticize them because they commit zina, yet they portray themselves as the leading theologians of Islam and they direct "Islamic" laws.

I don't care if you commit sin. But if you commit sin, then parade around as the leading scholar of Islam, then you must be criticized.

This is really a satire of the kings who rule these Muslim countries. And really, these kings are not Muslim at all.

A lot of these "muslim" kings and princes drink, smoke, and have sex with prostitutes. They also are greedy and corrupt with money.

So I think this is more of an attack on the monarchies of Muslim countries, not Muslims themselves.

Then there will be no economy.

People work to get wages. These wages are used to pay for goods, which run the economy.

The type of utopian society you envision is many centuries away. We would first need all work and progress to reach a point where we no longer need to develop, but repeat. Society also has to accept conformity, both economically and socially.

My descriptions of the police, the rioters, and the corporations are definitely exaggerations and simply jokes.

The idea that corporate influence is too strong in the US is definitely not a joke.

The police are the guardians of the government, the rioters are the manifestations of the people's sentiments.

But they all must bow down to our corporate overlords.
