I loved Pikmin. When Brawl was coming out I was so excited to use Olimar. I was great with him, and I told my friends. They didn't believe me. I crushed them all. 4 player free for all, 4 stock, I didn't die. They were amazed.

Items allow non-skilled players to beat better players. Items all come down to luck. Example, Pokeball drops near my bad friend, he gets it and any Pokemon that hinders movement (almost all of them) pops out. Now he has free reign to pick up healing items or whatever. Other items are just overpowered. The homerun bat can be thrown for one of the most devastating attacks. Items are for more novice players or for fun but not for competitions.

The reason we're starting from seed is because it's much cheaper and we're not entirely sure if we'll enjoy taking care of one yet/be good at it.

Edit: After giving it more thought, I agree that buying an established tree would be a better way to get into the world of bonsai.
