Firstly, I didn't see the link between this post and SRS. Secondly, while they go overboard with some things (like shaming people for using words like "lame" and "hysterical") I think they do a decent job of pointing out blatant sexism and racism on reddit.

Goddamn I can't believe you just said that. That's exactly how I've always described him. Well, I've usually called him the O'Reilly of the left because he doesn't even really seem to understand the views that he presents on his shows. And Religulous was really kind of presumptuous to me. Instead of having decent dialogues with religious people, he seriously pretty much went around and made "huhh" jokes about religion while people were really trying to talk to him.

No, you're missing a huge middle ground. You didn't say "respect police officers." You said if you're an asshole to authorities, they have the right to kick your ass. There's a difference between expecting people to be polite and deciding it's alright to physically assault them if they don't cooperate in QUESTIONING. If you're telling them to move and they're not moving, that's one thing. Beating someone up because they're ignoring you? Are you fucking kidding me?

That just brings up the point of where the line can be drawn. Seatbelts could be necessary to save a life, whereas the safety harness I would think just makes taking your kid out a bit more convenient.

I have to admit that I'm a full-on libertarian, the kind pretty much everyone here hates, but I'm moving away from it slowly. Don't ask me to defend my position because I'll probably do a terrible job as I'm fairly new to SRS and I'm still trying to let what I've learned here soak in. However, I can say that my political views at the moment stem from utilitarianism and not "magical rights" of the Ayn Rand and Ron Paul variety.

And yes, I used to think you guys were crazy, and now I'm really starting to see things through your eyes. Particularly the sexism that's so rampant.
