We Firefox and IE users can also search directly from the search box with suggestions. Why do Chrome users keep saying that they are the only ones who don't need to visit the Google homepage?

I have Google as my homepage because I want a fast, simple page to test if I have an Internet connection. Second reason is the doodles. And then I can also search from there. Added bonus.

Quick tip: You can choose any color for text but have a border around it that is fairly contrasting and it will stand out against anything.

People sometimes rate apps badly because they don't like the online service it connects to, although the app is well-designed.

The Facebook app should be rated low. Alien Blue (iOS Reddit client) shouldn't, even if you hate Reddit.

I live in the Kindle ecosystem because of the apps available for all platforms and because I have a Kindle anyway. I love it and books are usually cheaper than iBooks.

CloudOn is also something you should look into. I have a relatively slow connection (0.5 to 1 Mb/s) and it works great. It is similar, but instead of Windows, it is Office that connects to your Box.net, Google Drive or Dropbox account.

OnLive Desktop checks my connection and says it is too slow. Doesn't even let me try. I have used it in another country, with a better connection and it was smoother than CloudOn. You should try both, since they are both free.

I think it is something to do with Apple's rules and guidelines. I think there is something about Apple's app policies that does not allow an app to have a link to a website that lets them purchase stuff (circumventing the IAP model) and they cannot have an in-app store that doesn't give Apple money from purchases.

They can, however, do it like Amazon and others do with the Kindle apps etc., allowing people read books they have purchased through their websites without a link in the app.

But there may be other regulations.
