Yo, I went to buy a horse, but I had no silver

I had to take it easy and just settle for a chilver (female lamb)

Soon I was pimpin - in my pants of purple

yo I walked with a limp, yeah I swaggered with a hirple (a limp - dragging a limb)

I was rollin in my benz, when the sky went orange.

The shrooms were mighty tight, I could tell by the sporange (fungal structure producing and containing spores)

Album out now!

When I freestyle I usually drop Urkel (Steve) to rhyme with purple. It usually does the trick and then I can move into circle and beyond. This is a much better option

Does the word "purple" come up that often in rap battles?

[–]Jack_Bandit 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

It doesn't necessarily have to be a rap battle. I usually do a cypher in a circle. Going for a minute and passing to the next person. You'd be surprised what comes to your mind when you're on the spot like that.

[–]edstatue 3 points4 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Hmmm...so would pulling out a gem like "purple" and "hirple" be ridiculed or venerated? Personally, I'd probably rhyme "purple" with "nurple" if flying by the seat of my pants.

[–]Jack_Bandit 1 point2 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Well you have to think of it this way. Context and speed. I'm a pretty fast rapper so if I throw in purple, circle, and Urkle all within a half second of each other and keep it relevant it'll be pretty good. Plus I'm not saying:

"Your shirt is Purple. I like Steve Urkle. You're square I'm a Circle"

It's tough to explain...you just have to witness it I suppose.

[–]edstatue 1 point2 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

I think I know what you mean-- if you're pulling out jives and jamboree handouts pretty quickly to keep the alliteration flow up, I think it'd sound pretty good.

Hi, mycologist here :) Sorry to inform you, but there's no such thing as a "sporange."

Looks like it's a bastardized usage of an existing word, though. We in mycology tend to be pretty strict about our Latin. A sporangium (sin.) or sporangia (pl.) is a spore-containing structure in certain "primitive" fungal groups (chytrids and zygomycetes), but they also occur in many, many other organisms that are either plants or stramenopiles.

And no - it isn't an exact rhyme with "orange." :(

Although 'sporange' is an eye rhyme for 'orange', it is not a true rhyme, as its second syllable is pronounced with an unreduced vowel [-ændʒ], and often stressed.

wikipedia.org/wiki/Orange_(word)#Rhyme

The other words aren't in most dictionaries :/

[–]SupInternet[S] 22 points23 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

The other three appeared in an unabridged dictionary I have at work as well as wiktionary, FWIW. My phonetics aren't as sharp as I like to admit, so you may have a point with sporange. Regardless, wielding this information at your next cocktail party is certain to impress all and most likely end in sex-making.

Yeah, a remake of the first one is available on Steam. You can instantly switch between the original and the new graphics at any point in the game by pressing F10. It's pretty cool.

Also, they made a five-part sequel recently, for PC and Wii, called Tales of Monkey Island. They were developed by the same studio that made the Penny Arcade games. The lead developer was Dave Grossman, the same guy who co-designed the first two Monkey Island games. They're really, really good. Very true to the originals.

This was my husband's original idea for what he'd say during our marriage vows (thankfully the day before our wedding he found something a whole lot more beautiful, but it's till cute):

Said the pelican to the elephant

"I think we should marry, I do.

'Cause there's no name that rhymes with me,

And no one else rhymes with you."

Said the elephant to the pelican,

"There's sense to what you've said,

For rhyming's as good a reason as any

For any two to wed."

And so the elephant wed the pelican,

And they dined upon lemons and limes,

And now they have a baby pelicant,

And everybody rhymes.

Nothing rhymes with orange, so says Oxford Dictionaries.

http://www.askoxford.com/asktheexperts/faq/aboutwords/orange

However, we all know that words are added to dictionaries as they gain popularity, thus my proposal, a new word:

morange (n) a person who proposes silly (or incorrect) ideas that get erroneously upvoted on social news sites.

If we use it enough on reddit, it'll spread to digg and others. Then in a few years it may get added to a dictionary or two, and we'll finally have a word that rhymes with orange.

(edit: made the definition bold to stand out)
