Have you ever watched an anime movie or series that made your stomach turn? (self.anime)

I can think of three that did that to me. They were "End of Evangelion", "School Days", and "Mahou Sensei Negima". There may have been more but those three have stuck in my memory.

I will be honest, i watched the movie and I couldn't get over how much I hated the main character. I know this is based on a true story and everything, but damn I hated that kid.

Please someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the main character is suppose to be the creator reflecting on his own life. So he may have had a bit of self hate in there.

I kind of enjoyed it, but you're completely right that it used purposeful initial misrepresentation to lure the audience into a false sense of security before they started with the dismemberment and incest and rape.

...when I put it like that, I feel kinda bad for liking it. I suppose I liked it because of the play on genre, and the sheer balls-iness of it all.

yea rest of the manga, i know nothing is coming my way with the anime but thats fine, i can't imagine how some of the stuff in the manga would look as an anime cuz that manga gets graphic, not just graphic violence but some of the monster/character design is just so over the top

From a gore standpoint Shigurui, easily. Elfen Lied, Claymore, Berserk, Gantz ...those i could at least finish.

School days was a little brutal, but this crown in my opinion goes to Now and Then, Here and There. If gets mentioned every now and again around here, and it pulls it's punches, especially during the second half, but it really is like being hit in the gut at times.

In addition to what you posted, Gainax produced the anime called Mahoromatic. Yea, the end is fucking insanity (not unlike the ending for most of their animes prior).

And, of course, Berserk. I didn't know the story but I knew there were 26 episodes. As the last episodes approached I started to wonder how the series could ever get closure in such a short time.
