Congressman Justin Amash. Ron Pual has been his congressional mentor. Add him on Facebook, he posts every vote on his wall; most the time its the constitutional argument for why he voted against something.

He's definitely someone to keep your eyes on. In terms of "immediate successor", as I am inferring, I don't think he's quite ready/experienced for it, yet. Same goes for Rand. At this point, I would say Gary Johnson.

Amash is definitely a future prospect. One of three reps to cosponsor HR 3785, Paul's bill to remove section 1021 from NDAA FY2012. I feel if he keeps his seat, in ~12 years or so, he would have the established experience/voting record/etc to make a great run. Hopefully the Libertarian movement stays strong (or.. gets stronger) within those 12 years.

I think the movement will keep snowballing, look at the size of the movement now compared to what it was in the '70s. I think the main problem is which avenue to move down; reforming the Republican Party or building up the Libertarian Party.

reforming the Republican Party or building up the Libertarian Party.

This is really interesting to me. How I see it is: The Republican Party is currently imploding, thanks to Fox and the Neo-Cons. Maybe in the coming years it can be re-built with real conservatives and libertarians standing side by side to fight against big government status quo. Either that or the two party system might crack and smaller parties, such as the libertarian party, can grow in size.

Rand can win the Republican nomination in 2016. Gary John will never win the Republican nomination.

Rand is definitively ready.

He is like the combination of JFK and Ron Paul.

There isn't one. I've been trying to make this point for a while. There have been plenty of competent, honest, libertarians who have been great communicators.. but Ron Paul has a track record of accuracy, and honesty, that speaks for itself, and can't be matched without putting in the time. Any comparisons drawn is just hope. If in 20 years there is someone who rightfully deserves the comparison, we'll be very, very, lucky (and they better start now).

If you mean someone to run next presidential elections then Rand Paul.
