He has stated on many occasions that he's a Christian. Conjecture the says that he may be an atheist is almost as baseless as that which says that he might be a Muslim. I hope that he is an atheist, but let's not put words in his mouth.

While I agree with you, I do see the point that politicians (especially Presidential candidates) would never be able to admit something like atheism. Well, they could, but they wouldn't be elected. If you were an atheist and wanted to be elected, you would probably have to feign christianity.

Definitely, but you could say the same thing about a secretly Muslim president, too. Any argument that the president is non-Christian pretty much hinges on that point. I don't like it when it's used to claim that he's a Muslim, so I'm certainly not going to use it to claim he's an atheist.

I'd love to think that he's an atheist but, obviously, he has to go to church in the "Christian nation" that we live in.

Personally, I don't think it's a question that needs to be asked, or answered. It shouldn't matter what he personally believes, it matters how he will decide to run our country. If his personal beliefs conflict with that, then I'll want questions asked.

That being said, no one has any solid reason based on what he has said about his beliefs to think he's an atheist anymore than he is Muslim. I don't understand why people want to force labels on others so desperately.

Definitely. We get mad when people accuse him of being Muslim, but then we start gossiping that's he's atheist? It's the same coin.

No. You may want him to be, but he isn't.

Perhaps he is actually all three. What I like is the sense I feel that he doesn't really give a crap about stupid shit like this.

No, but if he were, it'd be pretty sweet.
